Butterfly Days

Bego Antón
Bilbao
1983

There is a group of people in the south of England who are devoted to butterflies and moths. Not only for their beauty, but also for their behavior. This interest has led the group to observe, follow and take care of these insects for years. They pride themselves as experts in the habitat, the customs and all the different species of butterfly’s that live in the area. Collecting books about them and filling their homes with furniture shaped like them. These individuals search for and catalogue all the butterflies and moths they can. Growing plants in their gardens to attract them and get closer to them. They can’t understand how some people hunt and collect these precious creatures.

This project portrays the world of these people, and simultaneously, the natural world where their passion is developed: the fields and sky of a little piece of England.
