The way I take photographs and the way I edit them changed completely after meeting Lauren. My friendship with Lauren grew along nights of art making. It got constructed around talks about what we make -painting, collages and photography- and how we make it. The art making process became of deep interest for me at that time. I freed myself from indexical and formal photographic series that use a unique camera format and technique. I started combining my medium format photographic work with 35 mm, collages and paintings. My photography stands up for the idea that life is about process, changes, candid moments and instances of thought. To me, all of this constitutes life and can be included under the same work using different directions, sizes and techniques.

“Stars Between Us” is a series that explores this belief. Subject, object and process are included in the work in an attempt to give a whole taste of a life experience. Combining these together, enables me to both document and make a conceptual statement about what i create and how I produce it. Photographing the light, for instance, enables me to talk about the nature of photography itself. Photographing watercolors and pencils allows me to reveal the means I use to approach other disciplines and how I combine them with photography. Rephotographing an image of a sculpture that has been published in a book, xeroxed, repainted, photoshoped, framed and finally arranged to create a new piece enables me to explore where my photography is heading to.
