I never met my grandfather. Two years before the Bonito’s shipwreck he also remained at sea. The only memories I have of him is his wedding picture with my grandmother and her half-mourning clothes, always filled with small white dots splashing the scrupulous mourning that she wore for many years.
This collection of black cloths in which the sun and the pass of time keep on blurring the image of the Bonito’s crew members, tries to be a memory of the people who experienced many of the whims of the sea that never should have happened
Fran Herbello lives in Aldán (Pontevedra). He studied Fine Arts at the University of Vigo.
